Library Services

Library services through the Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (IESBVI) are provided in cooperation with the Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB). The merged collection is called the On-line Public Access Catalog (OPAC). The web address for the OPAC is: http://idblibrary.blind.state.ia.us/EOSWebOPAC/OPAC/Index.aspx or you cam select this link OPAC. Eligible students, families, classroom teachers, Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and Orientation and Mobility Specialists (OMS) may access this collection. Students need to be registered with the Iowa Department for the Blind in order to use OPAC.

The two primary offerings housed at the Iowa School for the Deaf include American Printing House (APH) materials and the Professional Library. Books for Kids is now located at the Iowa Department for the Blind.

When applicants apply for materials, several braille or print/braille books will be mailed on a rotational basis to each participating child's home or school depending on the address provided. In addition to these lending services, all APH order are to be channeled through the TVI or OMS and the APH Library.
