Camp Abilities 2014

June 15-20, 2014

Camp Abilities Iowa held its annual camp in June on the campus of Iowa Braille.  In addition to the 14 campers, the students were joined by 4 student mentors.  The mentors assisted with activities throughout the week and worked with students.  All of the student mentors have previously attended Camp Abilities and all currently compete in various athletic competitions for Team Iowa in the North Central Association of Schools for the Blind conference.

The group enjoyed track & field activities, swimming, bowling, archery, roller skating, wrestling, bicycling, kayaking, canoeing, yoga, goalball and beep baseball.  It was a very active week that sparked friendships and interest in a wide variety of new activities.  Specail thanks to the staff and mentors ( Alex, Grace, James and Lauren) that kept us going all week.  Hope to see you next year!
