A Message from the Superintendent:

The Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School has not operated classroom or residential programs on the campus in Vinton since 2011. In an effort to use our resources to provide the greatest benefit to the students we serve, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa is working to sell the property. Currently the Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired uses a portion of Main Hall to house a media center, equipment, file storage and offices for staff.  In preparation for a future transfer of ownership of the campus, the administration is developing plans to move staff offices, learning media, and equipment to other locations.  Moves will be scheduled so that services to students are not disrupted.

Providing appropriate educational opportunities, resources, and support services so that Iowa's blind, visually impaired and deafblind children can function as independently as possible in all aspects of life, has and will continue to be the mission of IESBVI.

Sincerely,

Steve Gettel

Superintendent
