Touching Outer Space

The attached flier describes an extended program to be held on April 29 at the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines. It is a cooperative effort between Iowa Educational Services for Blind and Visually Impaired, Drake University, Science Center of Iowa and the Iowa Department for the Blind. The program is intended for students in grades 3-8 and their families with morning programs, provided lunch and admission for all to the museum for the entire day. (Transportation is NOT being provided.)

Wanda Merced Diaz is an astrophysicist who is blind, and she will be teleconferencing with us that day to answer questions from students and tell her story. Here is a link to her TED talk “How a Blind Astronomer Found a Way to Hear the Stars.” https://www.ted.com/talks/wanda_diaz_merced_how_a_blind_astronomer_found_a_way_to_hear_the_stars

It is going to be an amazing day! Enrollment is limited so get signed up soon. Registration information is on the flier.
