Science Apps

Collecting data and making sense of it is an essential science skill. The power of speech allows many of the apps to free students who are blind or visually impaired to collect their own data sets instead of relying on the recordings of a peer or teacher.

Color ID Free by GreenGar Studios--Free

Allow students to identify color when making observations or perhaps determine acid or base from pH strips. This one is free, but some of the apps that cost $3-5 may be more accurate when identifying color.

Light Meter from Elena Polyanskaya--$1.99

Students can make inferences about opacity as well as investigate difficult concepts such as shadow and light intensity. Light intensity is represented by tone and % and % is accessible as voice option.

Free Digital Temperature

From Purple Innovation, this app works by accessing the local outside temperature through a weather site. Additional weather data can be obtained by choosing "your local weather" which transfers the student to a weather site.
